Who are the Ancestors?

Your Ancestors are the foundation upon which you stand, and ancestor veneration is a powerful practice that honors them without crossing into worship. In this workshop, we will focus on the profound impact of Family Ancestors.

The Family Ancestors encompass your direct bloodline alongside your extended family tree, including those who raised you—be they parents, adoptive family, family friends, or chosen kin. If they played a vital role in shaping your childhood or enriching your adult relationships, they undeniably belong to your family.

What will we learn in this workshop?

In this empowering workshop, we will explore how to:

  • Construct a powerful Ancestral Altar
  • Effectively Connect and Communicate with Your Ancestors
  • Honor your ancestors in meaningful ways
  • Sustain and nourish your ancestors
  • Create impactful Ancestral Petitions

Your Family Ancestors serve as a profound source of support, enriching not only your spiritual journey but also your everyday life. Most spiritual practices worldwide are deeply rooted in ancestral traditions. In the West, we have often lost touch with our ancestors, who profoundly influence us and can enhance our personal power. Embracing ancestral work is vital for your spiritual practice, and can even strengthen your connections with current family members!

Is this workshop for you?

Working with ancestors can be an incredible journey, whether it’s to uncover more about your family history, deepen your connection to your roots, or enrich your spiritual practices. These are all fantastic reasons to explore this path!

Yet, some folks might feel hesitant about diving into ancestral work. Here are a few common thoughts that come up:

“I’m adopted and don’t know my birth family.”

If you were adopted, remember that you have two unique sets of family ancestors! You have your birth family ancestors, whom you don’t need to know to connect with, and the loving adoptive family that welcomed you into their lives. This connection is valuable in its own right!

“I struggle with my family or have faced abuse by my family.”

It’s important to remember that the ancestors you’ll connect with are generally from long ago, often 500 years in the past or more. Often, they can bring healing energy into your life, especially if your recent family experiences have been challenging. And don’t worry, we won’t focus on any of the more recent family members involved in abusive situations. Your older ancestors have gifts to offer if you’re open to receiving them, and can even aid you in your healing journey!

“This sounds great – I’ve always wanted to connect with my grandmother!”

While it’s lovely to honor your grandmother, our primary focus will be on ancestors from over 500 years ago. This approach enables us to tap into the wisdom and support of ancestors who have resolved all their incarnate issues. You can still honor her, but we recommend going back further for guidance and support.

“I’m worried I might learn things about my family that I don’t want to know!”

No need to worry at all! We’ll be setting clear boundaries and intentions in this practice, ensuring that you connect only with healed ancestors. Engaging with ancestors who are not healed is part of Ancestral Reconciliation, which is a different practice from Ancestral Veneration.

I'm there! What do I need to bring?

That’s great to hear! Here’s a list of things you’ll want to bring along to this class:

  • A White altar cloth – Raven suggests using a white cloth for your Ancestral Altar.
  • A White 7 or 3-day candle – This will serve as your ancestral candle.
  • A small piece of selenite – Perfect for enhancing ancestral communication.
  • A small piece of any of the following crystalsPetrified wood, Jet, or any fossil – these lovely items connect us with the planetary life force, making it easier to communicate with our ancestors.
  • A small offering bowl – this is perfect for your ancestral offerings.
  • OPTIONAL: A small skull – a skull connects us with the human experience and can be an excellent way to symbolize your ancestors.
  • What NOT to bring: photos of recently passed family members, items that belonged to your ancestors, or gifts from family.

This class is all about making yourself comfortable on the floor! We have some floor chairs, cushions, pillows, yoga mats, and blankets available. Feel free to bring anything else you might need for your comfort. And if sitting on the floor isn’t your thing, no worries! We also have chairs for anyone who needs them!

There are only 12 spots for this class, and it has always
